1- “Chiropractic in Interdisciplinary Medicine”
By James M. Cox, DC, DACBR

Article highlights:
1 - Chiropractic care is the most rapidly growing area in the health services industry.
Research shows that chiropractic manipulations (adjustments) are a safe and effective treatment for people with low back pain.
2- There are very few risks associated with manipulations of the low back.
4- Chiropractic patients are more satisfied overall with their care than patients of traditional physicians.
5- Chiropractic treatments for low back pain are most cost-effective than other medical care.
6- According to one study, about 90 percent of the 250,000 back surgeries performed each year could be avoided.
7- Several studies indicate that spinal problems can cause other problems, such as coronary heart disease, bladder dysfunction and sexual dysfunction.
8- Patients who receive spinal manipulations for their low back pain require fewer treatments, experience more improvements, and have longer-lasting relief than patients receiving traditional medical treatment, one study found.
9- If all low back pain patients were treated by chiropractic care, there would be a reduction of 290,000 sick days a year, one study estimated.
10- Chiropractic patients have lower rates of re-injury and are less likely to be hospitalized, reported the Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research.
